Meet Yasmine: The Visionary Behind Nural Beauty | Founder's Story
Where did the name Nural Beauty from?
Actually, my husband came up with it. It's a play on the word Natural. We wanted something that was close yet unique to us. Nural Beauty for us reflects 'Natural beauty' - embracing your skin and being comfortable in it. An added bonus is it also contains the word Nur which means glow in Arabic, which is fitting for our products and results on the skin - giving that natural glow.
Where did your own interest in skin start?
I would say it first started when I was a child, watching my Mum applying her skincare routine religiously, twice a day. She always had the most glowing, radiant skin and I always loved watching her relaxing and taking care of herself.
What was the inspiration behind starting your own brand?
Well, it was a few things… I grew up in the hair and beauty industry and my love for it started from a very young age. I spent a lot of time in my Mum’s hair and beauty salon and remember seeing how happy and relaxed people were after a nice pampering, not to mention how good their hair and/or skin looked! I then went on to get my own beauty qualifications before going to University, and kept hair and beauty as a passion, hobby and ‘happy place’ always with the view that I would return back to it one day, in some capacity.
I always wanted to start a brand inspired by my North African heritage and the beauty and selfcare rituals of the Berber people. Selfcare and beauty are such a big part of a woman’s routine in Morocco and there are so many little gems within the ancient rituals that I’ve always wanted to share with the world. My dream for the brand was to fuse both the ancient rituals and the modern skincare I grew up with by bringing both worlds together to create something different and unique. I also feel like it reflects me as a person, a proud blend of British and North African – lucky enough to enjoy the best of two incredible places.
What does your current skincare routine look like?
I’ve been travelling a lot in the last year so my routine is constantly changing based on where I am, the climate and the condition of my skin. On the days I have time, I love to do a long slow routine and take my time applying the products on my skin and also chuck on a good mask and relax. On days where I have a busy schedule, I stick to the essentials. Either way, I’m never without my Vallée des Fleurs Face Oil!
What’s next for Nural Beauty?
We are working on product development to begin expanding our range. We’ve got so many ideas, just not enough hours in the day!
